The third Sunday of racing in the Garmin Hamble Winter Series was sponsored by Spinlock.  The J/109 crews arrived to find their decks covered in ice despite the sunshine and a northerly breeze of 12knots.  The first race of the day was a three beat, two run course which saw J-Dream (David & Kirsty Apthorp) lead at the windward mark closely followed by Jynnan Tonnyx (Owain Franks/Jean Lockett) and Aria (Luca Rubinelli).  Audajious(David Jobson) started well but lacked the pace to hold onto the leaders.  A shifty beat saw Aria move into second place before dropping to third on the run, giving Jynnan Tonnyx their best result of the series so far.  Meanwhile Inspara (Tor McLaren), Jambhala (Gill Ross/Richard Sainsbury)  and Red Arrow (RAFSA) had a closely fought battle with Inspara leading the group  and Jambhala crossing the line only five seconds ahead of Red Arrow.

 The second race saw the wind ease but settle in direction.  J-Dream was again clean off the line and did not hesitate to lead the fleet round the cascading course across the Solent winning by 4 mins 27 secs.  Outrajeous (Richard & Valerie Griffiths)  was determined to improve on her position from the first race and led the pack to finish 2^nd.  Meanwhile, Jynnan Tonnyx had an incident at the final leeward mark with Jagerbomb (Paul Griffiths), for which they took a penalty and dropped two places.

 With six races done and one more Sunday of two races before a break and then reverting to one race per day, J-Dream has a clear lead whilst Offbeat is leading from Outrajeous by one point.

 Hamble River Sailing Club served beer and cake, which was finished too soon for some!
