dscf0067Well we have arrived safely , 6 boats arriving on Friday and a similar number on Saturday. The sail over on Friday for those that left early in the morning was just superb. A W/Sw Force 4 provided sparkling conditions in the sunshine that prevailed from dawn to dusk.

We arrived in Cherbourg with glowing faces having departed variously in the early morning from Hamble, Bembridge and Yarmouth. We arrived between 18:00 and 21:00 BST with one tired straggler in the form of Martha Gunn arriving at 01:00 on Saturday. (Thats another story for the web)

Weather on Saturday was less good for sailing with those that came over having to mainly motor sail to make it to the port in time for dinner. Character building stuff it is to arrive and then sit through a terrific french dinner with RAFYC servings of wine and beer! Some of the Saturday arrivals have even stayed awake to make it to the dangerous Calvados course on board Calsara.

As this article is being written Sunday Morning we are supposed to be according to the forecast in the middle of a rainy Sunday - in fact we are enjoying wall to wall blue sky and warm light winds. This of course allows some of us to catch up with a few winks.asleep

Off to the lunchtime meeting at the Capitainerie now... be in touch with further news of the epic sail back soon

regards

Ian
