Navitus Bay Wind Park
(Author Nicky Houghton)
On Saturday afternoon 28th April the RAFYC hosted 3 representatives from Eneco, who gave an illuminating presentation about the proposed wind farm off Swanage Bay, to the west of the Isle of Wight. Crown Estates auctioned off the rights to various areas of the sea bed off the Coast of Britain, and Eneco has bought the rights to develop wind generation on the two English Channel areas in a 50-50 joint venture with EDF Energy.

Weymouth and Portland – Host to the sailing events of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
An important message for recreational boat users from the Berthing Officer, Weymouth Harbour
Over the last 18 months we have been working hard to get to the stage where we can invite boat owners to visit Weymouth and Portland for the Games periods. I am delighted that hundreds of visitors will be able to enjoy this unique experience from the waters around the field of play and also the wide range of activities and facilities that will be available ashore. We are pleased to attach details of visitor berthing and anchoring in Weymouth and Portland Harbours’ during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Sailing Events. Working with partners, our aim is to ensure the sailing events in 2012 are delivered on safe and secure waters. To achieve this some restrictions need to be put in place and these safety messages need to be communicated to recreational boat users.
